HAC swimmers had a succesful weekend at the WOSA Short Course Regional Championships in Brantford. There were lots of achievements with significant time improvements, some new talent on the rise, many new Finals qualifiers and quite a few new Festival and OYJ qualifying times achieved over the weekend. HAC took home its fair share of medals by swimmers spread across all ages. Congratulations to our new Regional Champions: Mylana Campanaro, Nolan Hunt, Adan Lindfield (x3!!), Halayna Montrichard, Alan Tian, Ethan Young and Mackenzie Whitehouse (x2!!). A huge shout out to all of our coaches that gave up a lot of their time for a meet that ran from Thursday evening until Sunday evening.

Officials Webinars

Swim Ontario’s next series of webinars will be held in February at the following dates:

  • Clerk of Course – February 10 from 7:00 – 9:30 PM
  • Recorder Scorer – February 11 from 7:00 – 9:30 PM
  • Meet Manager – February 18 from 7:00 – 9:30 PM
  • Chief Finish Judge – Chief Judge Electronics – February 20 from 7:00 – 9:30 PM

A computer or tablet is necessary for these clinics. Registration is required and closes 1 week prior to the webinar. To register, complete the online form:

Swim Ontario’s pre-requisites are as follows:

  • Registered with Swimming Canada/Swim Ontario
  • Intro to Swim Officiating and Safety Marshal clinics (Level 1 clinics)
  • Deck experience as a timekeeper
  • Judge of Stroke and Inspector of Turn Clinic
  • Deck experience as Head Lane timekeeper, Turn Judge or Stroke Judge is highly recommended
  • Knowledge of the working deck at competitions
  • Meet Manager and CFJ-CJE Clinics: Some deck experience at competitions of the Clerk of Course and Recorder Scorer positions are highly recommend
    before taking the Meet Manager and CFJ-CJE Clinics.

New Club Record Holder

We have a new club record holder: Sophia Calcagni blew away the old record of 21:08.58 in the Girls 11-12 Years Old 1500 Metres Freestyle with a time of 19:24.36. Congratulations Sophia!
